The Billie Holiday Theatre is excited to collaborate with Saint Ann’s Warehouse and The Laundromat Project to welcome Little Amal, a 12 foot tall animatronic puppet depicting a refugee girl representing all children fleeing war, violence and persecution and each with their own story, Little Amal’s urgent message to the world is “Don’t forget about us”.
Little Amal is scheduled to be in NYC from Wednesday, September 14 – Sunday, October 2, 2022. As part of her journey through the five boroughs, Little Amal will make a stop at Restoration – West Plaza on Thursday, September 22 from 5-6:30p. We invite you to join us as we welcome Little Amal to our neighborhood.
Come see Little Amal, take a photo, enjoy the live music and even dance with her! We hope you will come out to help amplify her voice and message of hope and solidarity for everyone in the world through the arts!Arriving in Bed-Stuy, Amal is led through streets filled with the music of drummers. She is guided to Restoration Plaza where the neighborhood throws her a party she will never forget.
All of Amal’s events are suitable for children and families.
Since July 2021 she has travelled over 9,000km across 12 countries representing all children fleeing war, violence and persecution and each with their own story, Little Amal’s urgent message to the world is “Don’t forget about us”.
She has become an international symbol of compassion and of human rights. She carries a message of hope and solidarity for displaced people everywhere, especially children who have been separated from their families.
