SUMMERFEST 2021

SummerFest 2021 is our re-introduction into live in-person events at The Billie! As we begin to execute our reopening plan we have designed various free outdoor community events designed to create moments of joy and celebration throughout the summer for all.

This summer, you and your family have the opportunity to learn from world-class artists during the weekly Community Dance Class, & fellowship with the community during the monthly Skylight Open and Black Joy Film Festival. Mark your calendars!

SKYLIGHT OPEN

Where: West Plaza
When: Monthly beginning Friday, July 30 at 6:30 PM

An electric blend of adventurous spoken word, musical and movement based artists. We will kick off the series next Friday with our host Clyla Destiny and bring various artists to the stage including Dagi-Ann, Mekhiel from Rapha center and renowned tap dancer Adante Power.

August 17 | Mama Andara Rahman | West African Dance- Sabar
The West African dance class is a journey into the dance, music, song, historical context and cultures of West Africa. The class begins with warm up exercises that condition the body to develop strength, aerobic stamina, coordination, flexibility and rhythmic awareness while learning the various dances and songs of West Africa. It makes known a common past and connection developing a positive identification to the continent of Africa and the African Diaspora. This engenders a sense of belonging and a holistic approach to developing a positive self awareness and identity that carries in and outside of the dance studio.

COVID-19 HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS

While COVID-19 restrictions are no longer in place per State & City health guidelines, the Conservancy understands that the pandemic is not over. There is still a risk of exposure to COVID-19 in both indoor and outdoor spaces where others are present. If you are experiencing symptoms related to COVID-19, or suspect that you may have been exposed to COVID-19, we urge you to please stay home. The continued use of masks in crowded settings is recommended for all non-vaccinated individuals. We ask that unvaccinated individuals also maintain social distancing. Regardless of vaccination status, please wear a mask and allow for space between individuals/households if it makes you feel more comfortable.
